Garage Sale Game Rules First Draft 3-26-10

Below I outline a game that I gleaned from the mind of Gary Vaynerchuk.  I am going to develop a simple little framework on the web to facilitate this game.  I feel like a lot of fun is about to happen. :)

Garage Sale Game Rules

·         1 item $20 limit (based solely on the honor system)

·         Item may be new or used

·         Item must be purchased at garage sale (based solely on the honor system)

·         Item may not be posted on the web before the agreed upon opening day

·         If player does not have an item by opening day he/she forfeits participation

·         Unlimited amount of players are permissible

·         Any internet medium may be used (ie Craigslist, Ebay, your own site, etc.)

·         Medium must be internet based

·         Item promotion is allowed (anything goes)

·         Item sale must be completed with money in hand, or Paypal confirmation. (subject to confirmation)**Thinking that honor system may work for this need input**

·         Upon first item in a match selling, a 7-day countdown starts for remaining items in play

·         At end of 7-day countdown the item that has sold for highest amount wins

·         Items that did not get sold in previous games are not allowed for new games

·         Winner receives bragging rights and street cred (which are the only things that are real anymore)

Rules subject to change, but never mid game.

My @podcastStockton Browser Wars submission before Google ate it

I currently use Firefox, but have been moonlighting with Google Chrome.  I like Chrome's snappiness and all together Googly feel of minimalism, but have yet to make it my default browser because I have put so much into my Firefox browser in the way of add-ons and passwords.  If chrome has add-ons I haven't found them, but then I haven't really looked either.  I would even entertain a migration application that would make the switch easier, hint hint hungry developers.  I usually use Chrome if I am going to surf, but that is even rare as most of my internet time is logged on Widgets and clients that populate my desktop.  My vote in the browser war at this point is Firefox, but that sultry temptress Chrome is threatening to break my monogamous relationship and create a broken home for all of my add-ons.

As far as Opera is concerned, I use it on my BB, but since RIM refuses empower me with a default browser choice I am relegated to that crappy BB browser.  So again on my BB I rarely surf, I use applications that bring my content to me, via RSS and various Social Clients.  I can't try Safari on my BB because Apple is Apple. Since the only time I ever use the web on my device is following a link, the default RIM browser is what I am forced to use.  It is kind of wonky to cut and paste just to use a different and slightly faster browser.  I think that internet on all phones sucks anyway, it is too slow and screen is too small, even in column view.  Mobile applications that tap the firehose is what I use my pocket internet device for.

Thanks Matt and Rod for the tech talk. Our community is benefitting educationally through osmosis. Let that sit in your brain and ferment for a while. Keep charging the medium and keep staying fresh.
